Rob Curtin

Highland Snare Instructor

Rob began his highland drumming career at age 13 as a snare drummer for the Pipes and Drums of the Delaware Valley in Wilmington, DE, a Grade 4 competition band that competed in Highland games in Albany, NY, Redbank, NJ, Fair Hill, MD and Alexandria, VA. Rob placed 3rd in the Individual Drumming competition at the Virginia Scottish Games in 2002 at age 16.

Rob moved to Roanoke in 2012 and joined the Virginia Highland Pipes and Drums a few years later, and continues to play snare for them to this day.

From bagpipe bands to marching bands, rock bands to drum and bugle corps, drumming has always been a passion for Rob. Being able to share this passion with others through music education is equally important to him, and from 2014 to 2018 Rob served as the percussion instructor for the William Byrd High School Marching Terriers in Vinton, VA.

Now, he is excited to pass along the art of highland drumming to others.

Geoffrey Saur

Piping Instructor

Geoffrey Saur has been piping in excess of 15 years, and has had a slew of exciting gigs ranging from piping at his local theme park to travelling to Scotland to join the Piper's Trail, the host band of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

Anymore, he looks forward to passing on the gift of music and all that comes with it to the next generation.
